Flat Fender Rope

CHOOSE YOUR COLOUR

It is traditional to use rope fenders at the sides of your narrowboat, but many people are concerned that their round fenders take up too much space, especially in locks.

For this reason we have developed these flat rope fenders. In the picture the black one is as you would see it on your boat, whilst the natural one shows the thin section when viewed side on.

Available in three colours to match the ropes and main fenders.

Only available for the Canal Shop

Renaissance Fender - Black Poly

This is the standard black Renaissance fender made for us by Brian McGuigan of Renaissance Ropecraft.

These excellent UK made fenders using the traditional technique, but based on a solid moulded rubber core to avoid 'Fender droop' are covered in a long lasting, but economical black polyethylene rope.

These are substantial and long lasting fenders at a good price. The buttons are 12" diameter. We have stock available so you can fit one immediately.

Choose between a button or a V bow fender for the front and a long button or a combined button and tipcat for the rear (or some people can get away with just a button if their rudder doesn't protrude very far). Remember if your fender doesn't reach further than your rudder, it cannot protect it.

Renaissance Fender - Brown Poly

Buckby Can - Plain with Brass Trim

These are the traditional water cans which were used by boatmen for carrying their fresh water. One normally sits on the roof with the mop handle through it.

The name comes from Long Buckby, which is where they were originally made (at the other end of the flight of locks to where we are situated!)

These new varieties come in different sizes and are either just galvanised with brass trim or painted black with brass trim so that you can add your own decoration

Fenders - Side - Kart Tyre

These fenders are a good economical way of getting side fenders by recycling old Kart Tyres. They come in two sizes: narrow 5" wide and wide 8" wide, made from front and rear tyres respectively.

They come complete with stainless steel attachment ring and drain holes.

Impressive 8 inch searchlight

This is the searchlight you have always wanted on the front of your boat. It is similar to the Francis searchlight which can cost up to £700 second-hand, but this is brand new and at a lot less cost.

It comes in chrome and is complete with mounting frame, which mounts on a 3/4" pole with clamps to lock in position and a handle on the back to point it in the right direction.  Inside the 8 inch diameter casing is a 12 volt 55 watt headlight and reflector giving a good beam to see where you are going. (24 volt available on request).

Impressive 9 inch searchlight

This is the searchlight you have always wanted on the front of your boat. It is similar to the Francis searchlight which can cost up to £700 second-hand, but this is brand new and at a lot less cost.

Plank - Folding Ladder

The name describes it well. For most of the time it can be a lightweight boarding plank, but on those unfortunate occasions when someone falls in, it can be immediately turned into a rescue ladder. (It is also useful for access when blacking the boat, too)

The total weight is only 10kg, which is lighter than the average wooden plank.

The ladder-plank folds up when not in use and stands on its own four feet so you don't need to use pole and plank holders. Click icon below picture to see ladder folded.

The standard ladder-planks are just under 6 feet long and the ladder part is 15" wide with a steadying support 25" wide on one end. The alternative longer ladder-plank is just under 8 feet long, but otherwise the same.

Maximum safe weight on either ladder is 16 stone (100kg) when extended.
